While Leo takes another stab at Best Actor!
It’s hard not to be conflicted by this. I definitely can’t say I’ve been looking forward to The Revenant because it’s the latest film from the consistently bad and pretentious Ar-Tiste, Alejandro González Iñárritu (see: Birdman, Biutiful, Babel, and other terrible titles that start with B, probably) but it’s also the latest film from Emmanuel Lubezki (Gravity, The Tree Of Life, Children Of Men) who is maybe the best working cinematographer today. So while I do find a lot of this naturally-captured imagery stunning – the primal atmosphere of the trailer and the environments is quite beautiful – and it looks like DiCaprio is once again putting in some unreal work for that Oscar (he never needed to work again for me after The Wolf Of Wall Street tbh), I can’t help but be skeptical, especially when “From Academy Award-Winning Director Alejandro González Iñárritu” interrupts the trailer about halfway through.
