Michael B. Jordan trades his Johnny Storm costume for boxing shorts, but still brings the heat.
In case a certain superhero role in a certain major critical and financial disaster made you forget, Michael B. Jordan is an incredible actor, and the newest trailer for the upcoming Rocky spinoff Creed proves just that. Creed, which centers on Adonis Johnson Creed, the son of Rocky’s opponent/friend Apollo, probably should have been a tougher sell than it actually was, but with the right on and off-screen talent, including Jordan, his Fruitvale Station director Ryan Coogler and the return of Sylvester Stallone as Rocky Balboa, many fans of the original franchise quickly fell in the love with the idea. Then, the first trailer was released, and, to put it lightly, it kicked ass. No one really expected a second trailer to pack the same punch the first one did, but I can proudly say that after watching this newest trailer 7 times (one for each movie in the Rocky franchise) that it’s probably the best trailer you’re gonna see all week, all month, all year and maybe even ever. Am I hyping it up too much? Yes I am. But regardless, see it for yourself down below:
Creed really does have the potential to be the best Rocky film since… well, Rocky (no disrespect to II and III, you know I love you guys too). The trailer is fast-paced, emotional and tense, and gives us a look at not only Adonis and Rocky, but also the film’s antagonist. Also, the appearance of two tombstones are sure to make every Rocky fan instantly sad.
The rest of the cast includes Tessa Thompson (Dear White People), Phylicia Rashad (The Cosby Show), Graham McTavish (The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey) and Tony Bellew. Additionally, Coogler also penned the film’s script alongside Aaron Covington. Creed will hit theaters on November 25, 2015.
