The Future is calling! It’s here to inform you about the new Coen brothers film you should be stoked about.

It’s hard not to feel a sense of excitement when it comes to the latest Joel and Ethan Coen, the co-writer/directors behind so many Great™ films it’s bewildering. Having recently rewatched their deeply underrated Burn After Reading just this past week, however, I’ve longed for the return of the manic, comedy genius Coen’s that’s been sorely lacking in the past 7 years. Don’t get me wrong, I love Inside Llewyn Davis – it’s a perfect, restrained picture from them – but there’s an energy to the unhinged, delirious Coen’s that is utterly unmatched, making the first trailer for their new film Hail, Caesar! maybe the most exciting trailer I’ve seen since The Wolf Of Wall Street (which went on to be my #1 of 2013). Check it out:

If someone asked me what my dream Coen brothers film would be, it would like look this. A manic, golden age of Hollywood screwball that looks like some messy combination of Barton Fink (my fav), The Big Lebowski, and Burn After Reading. I just absolutely adore watching the Coen’s unhinge themselves, and their performers, in goofy, often darkly funny yet still human stories. And with a cast that includes George Clooney, Josh Brolin, Scarlett Johansson, Ralph Fiennes, Frances McDormand, Tilda Swinton, Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill, how could this not be one of the best films of 2016? The brief bits we see in the trailer of these performers has them playing with their image and/or doing really silly things, and I’m a huge fan of watching traditionally good-looking performers play total doofuses, whether it be in an expert Coen farce or not so you could say this just jumped up my list of most anticipated films.

What did you guys make of the trailer?
