Genre distributor, Raven Banner Releasing has acquired Canadian rights to Kevin Burke’s directorial debut of 24X36: A Movie About Movie Posters.
The film explores the lost art of movie poster illustration through the recollections of the filmmakers, collectors, historians, artists and curators committed to keeping the tradition alive with contributions from Roger Kastel — who was responsible for the classic poster for Jaws — and Gremlins director Joe Dante, among others.
24X36, had its world premiere at Fantastic Fest in Austin, Texas and was produced by Kevin Burke, Graham Lee, Andrea Butler, Richard Chan and Snowfort Pictures’ David Lawson.
Executive producers include Travis Stevens, Stephanie Trepanier, Wendy Donnan, Matthew Chojnacki, Jared Dobbs and Mike Gregory.
Raven Banner will release the documentary theatrically in 2017.
The deal was negotiated between Raven Banner’s Managing Partners, Michael Paszt and James Fler with Snowfort Pictures’ Travis Stevens.
“In all honesty, Raven Banner was my dream distributor from the time we began production,” said the film’s director Kevin Burke. “Their work with genre film in Canada is unparalleled and I’m elated to have my first feature counted among their amazing catalogue of films.”
