The Equalizer 3 Box Office: Denzel Washington Leads Weekend With High-$30Ms

The Equalizer 3 Box Office: Sony’s newest film, “The Equalizer 3,” starring Denzel Washington, is predicted to make the most money this weekend, with a 3-day and 4-day total of $30 million and $30 million, respectively. The 3,965-screen action-thriller is directed by Antoine Fuqua. The $70 million production cost TSG and Eagle Pictures.

The movie started well despite the SAG-AFTRA strike preventing performers from promoting it. Sony’s marketing has picked up the slack, resulting in 9% higher social media interaction than action-thrillers, according to RelishMix. The movie trailer has been shared 38:1 times, and most online discussions are good. Washington’s sequences with Dakota Fanning, which have been likened to and challenged by John Wick, are extremely popular.

Sony gets bad news, too. Warner Bros. may have expected “The Broken Hearts Gallery” to boost its opening Friday box office, but it didn’t. The Thursday night sneak peeks for the first Friday only made $3.8 million, a little more than Sony’s “Gran Turismo.”

For context, “Gran Turismo” is expected to gross $6.5 million over the weekend, down 63% from last week and fourth position. Despite the decline, the movie should make $ 30.2 million by Monday. This places it behind Warner Bros.’ “Barbie,” which is predicted to take second place with $9.1 million in three days and $12 million in four, totaling $610.8 million.

“Blue Beetle,” another contender, will earn $6.4 million in three days and $8.3 million in four, totaling $57.6 million. The seventh weekend of “Oppenheimer” is predicted to bring in $4.9 million, raising its total to $309.4 million.

The Equalizer 3 Box Office
“The Equalizer 3” has a 92% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes; however, reviewers awarded it a 76% grade. Sony’s marketing crew spread the word about the film even while its stars were on strike. The movie’s tremendous social media presence on Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, and TikTok has made up for the lack of star promotions.

In 2014, the original “Equalizer” film made $101.5 million in the US, while “Equalizer 2” made $102 million. The franchise has grossed $ 382.7 million worldwide, making it Sony’s most lucrative action series. “American Gangster” ($44 million) and “Safe House” ($40 million) had the best Washington opening weekends.

The film’s director, Antoine Fuqua, is pleased with its performance, especially considering the pandemic and strike, which made promotion difficult. Washington, Fuqua, and Fanning have collaborated before. The three of them last appeared together at CinemaCon in April to preview one of the year’s most anticipated films. Todd Black, Jason Blumenthal, and Fuqua have promoted the film at recent press appearances.
Despite the SAG-AFTRA strike and strong competition, Sony’s “The Equalizer 3” should do well. Its box office performance is predicted to be strong, demonstrating the power of good marketing and the popularity of its actors.
