Marvel Taps Michael Waldron to Craft Avengers’ Destiny”

Marvel Taps Michael Waldron: As Marvel undergoes a creative shift for its expansive Avengers projects following director Destin Daniel Cretton’s departure, there seems to be a strategic decision to entrust the task of crafting Avengers narratives to the man already immersed in the world of superhero storytelling.

According to Deadline, Michael Waldron, who is already engaged in writing Avengers: Secret Wars for Marvel, has been enlisted for yet another Avengers venture—Kang Dynasty. Waldron, having established himself as Marvel’s current go-to writer with his contributions to Loki and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, now finds himself at the helm of Kang Dynasty. This move appears not only logical due to his existing commitment to Avengers: Secret Wars but also his familiarity with the character Kang, whose future in the Marvel universe is still under consideration amid actor Jonathan Majors’ ongoing legal proceedings.

Kang Dynasty is slated for release on May 1, 2026, followed by its sequel, Secret Wars, hitting screens on May 7, 2027. While recent industry disruptions, including the temporary halt caused by the SAG-AFTRA strike, might impact these dates, Waldron now has ample time to shape the destiny of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes.
