Zac Efron Honored by Matthew Perry’s Biopic Vision: A Poignant Reflection

Zac Efron Honored by Matthew Perry: Zac Efron has graciously responded to the revelation that Matthew Perry had envisioned him portraying a younger version of the “Friends” actor in a biopic.

During the premiere of his upcoming movie “The Iron Claw” in Dallas, Efron expressed his deep honor, stating, “It would be extraordinary to do, and, of course, I’m just really still devastated by the fact he’s gone. Yeah, we’ll see what happens.”

Last week, Athenna Crosby, who shared a lunch with Perry at the Hotel Bel-Air a day before his passing at 54, revealed Perry’s aspiration to create a movie about his life. She disclosed that Perry, having previously collaborated with Efron in the 2009 comedy film “17 Again,” intended to ask Efron to portray a younger version of himself in the upcoming biopic.

“He was just so looking forward to sharing more about his story and his recovery from addiction and really championing that cause to help more people,” Crosby added.

Efron and Perry had worked together in “17 Again,” where Efron played the younger version of Perry’s character, Mike O’Donnell. Perry had previously shared that he had written a screenplay for a movie and envisioned Efron as the dream younger version of himself. However, Efron had declined the role at that time.

Despite the past refusal, Perry remained hopeful, stating, “So we’ve got to find somebody who says yes.” Efron’s recent response reflects his deep respect for Perry and the potential honor of taking on such a role in memory of the late actor.
