Jacob Elordi GQ Interview: Rejecting Superman, Defending Artistic Integrity, and Beyond

Jacob Elordi GQ Interview: Jacob Elordi, in a recent interview with GQ magazine, revealed that he declined an audition for Superman, likely referring to James Gunn 2025 project, “Superman: Legacy.” David Corenswet was eventually cast as Superman in June. Elordi expressed his disinterest in superhero films at this stage in his life, stating, “I like to make what I would watch, and I get very restless watching those movies.”

When asked about the possibility of a superhero role, he noted, “I’m supposed to finish it with: ‘Never say never!’” Elordi shared that he was asked to read for Superman, but he declined, stating, “That’s too much. That’s too dark for me.”

Despite his breakout in Netflix’s “The Kissing Booth” trilogy, Elordi expressed reservations about the films, calling them “ridiculous” and emphasizing that they were not the work he wanted to be doing. He mentioned his banner acting year with roles in Sofia Coppola’s “Priscilla” and Emerald Fennell’s “Saltburn.” Elordi is currently in production with Paul Schrader on the film “Oh, Canada,” and a third season of the HBO series “Euphoria” is on the horizon.

Reflecting on “The Kissing Booth” trilogy, Elordi rejected the idea of it fitting into the “one for them, one for me” Hollywood dynamic, cautioning against compromising original ideas for commercial success. He argued against knowingly delivering subpar content, stating, “How is caring about your output pretentious? But not caring, and knowingly feeding people [expletive], knowing that you’re making money off of people’s time, which is literally the most valuable thing that they have. How is that the cool thing?”

Despite criticism from film critics, Elordi’s co-star Joey King, has consistently defended “The Kissing Booth” trilogy, expressing pride and love for the movies.
